We Had to Stop in Reno….

April 13-16

–Reno, NV Grand Sierra Casino & RV Park

We were very impressed with this RV Park…and the casino! The park was immaculate! And the sites were very long & wide. The casino was big.

It seemed huge once we went downtown to the casinos there.

We spent an afternoon downtown. It was really hard to get around signage for the parking garages were non-existent.

The downtown casinos were smaller than we were expecting but they had a lot of slot machines. We didn’t see many table games at all.

The Grand Sierra Casino was really nice. It seemed fairly new…or recently updated. A lot of tables & slots. We did ok here.

They also have about 10-12 places to eat. Nothing too fancy but they had Starbucks, Johnny Rockets, Pizza, Pretzels, etc.

We enjoyed ourselves but 3 days is about all we would do here.

Carson City, NV…A Nice Surprise…

April 4-13

-Carson City, NV Gold Dust Hotel, Casino & RV Park

We were taking our time headed north because there was still A LOT OF SNOW in the areas we planned on going.

It worked out good though. Rather than just drive through an area or just spend a day or 2 we were spending a week or more in many areas. It was nice.

Carson City was a nice surprise. It seemed, at 1st glance, that is was just a place to drive through when in fact it had a very nice downtown area.

The view from the RV park wasn’t too bad either. Snow capped mountains!

We spent a day and drove to Lake Tahoe…or as close as we could get.

Some of the roads were still closed. And the snow kept getting deeper & deeper along the sides as we drove up there.

It WAS beautiful!

Downtown Carson City was very nice.

Our BIG Adventure…To Tonopah, NV…What a Trip…

April 3-4

-Tonopah, NV Hotel & RV Park

We only stayed here 1 night. It’s kind of the ½ way point between Las Vegas & Carson City. It is just a dinky little town but we had a BIG adventure getting here!

When we left Vegas we had a full tank of fuel in the truck. There was only 1 gas station between Vegas & Tonopah. It was less than an hour outside Vegas. There’s a sign that lets you know it’s the ONLY station.

Now…because we ran out of fuel…in Texas…LAST summer…just 8 miles from a station, I kind of start bugging Georgie to get fuel when the tank gets around ½ full.

SOOOOO…I suggested we top off the tank at this 1 and only station. He said no, we could make it to Tonopah…no problem.

WELL…wouldn’t you know! Just 6 miles BEFORE Tonopah…only 6 miles…YEP! We ran out of fuel!!!

To say that I was a little pissed is putting it mildly! I just wanted to sit my FAT ASS in the truck & let him walk his HAPPY ASS 6 miles!!!

I couldn’t do that…even though I wanted to! We carry 3-5 gal. gas cans in the truck. I have suggested that maybe we should put 5 gals. of diesel fuel in 1…just in case. Oh no…why would we need that? Why he asks…REALLY!!

So…he started to walk. He didn’t even get 10 steps in front of the truck when a car pulled over, picked him up, took him into town…AND brought him back! They said they were headed to Vegas when they saw him so they turned around. What a lucky break! For me too…and the dogs. I guess we were all happy.

Anyway, we got into town, parked the rig in the only RV park in town, ate dinner…at the only restaurant in town, gambled for about an hour…at the only casino in town, then crawled into bed.

Back on the road first thing in the morning.

Las Vegas….Again….

March 29-April 3

-Las Vegas, NV Circus Circus RV Park

This was our 2nd trip to Vegas this year. We stayed at Circus Circus RV Park…again. It’s a nice park with a great location. Close to most everything.

Our goal was to get to Washington and work our way down the Pacific Coast. We made a lot of stops along the way. Las Vegas just happened to be on the way. We were so sad to have to stop…

We only stayed a couple of days…and we did ok at the casinos so all was not lost.
